BIOMASS BRIQUETTING

Cogeneration | Biogas | Biomass Power | Biomass Gasifier | Wood Burning Stoves | Waste to Energy

OVERVIEW

Briquetting process involves application of  pressure to a mass of particles with or without addition of a binder and converting them into a compact and agglomerate form.

Objective of briquetting is to convert loose solid fuel into compact fuel

Biomass particles are compressed in a mould to produce briquettes. Briquette- known as ‘Bio-coal’ is a good  quality fuel capable of replacing fossil fuels. Briquettes can be stored and transported easily and economically since they occupy lesser volume than raw biomass

TECHNOLOGY

Biomass briquetting involves grinding and drying of agro wastes to  maintain uniform  particles size and optimum moisture content. The processed agro waste is then subjected to high temperature and pressure using screw press / mould to produce briquettes.
The briquettes are  air cooled and packed suitably to avoid direct contact with atmosphere that might deteriorate the quality of briquettes.
