Energy efficiency and conservation is attaining paramount importance
nowadays with the recognition of energy costs, growing competitive market
environment, and impacts of unsustainable energy consumption on the environment.
Energy demand is continuously increasing while the energy capacity addition
is not following the same path. It is recognized that huge investments
and resources are required to increase the energy capacity and improve
the quality of power for consumers. Further, new capacity additions are
expected to take considerable time. In view of this situation, energy
efficiency improvements and conservation projects appear to be an immediate
alternative for various industries to cope with the growing energy problems.
As per one estimate, there is a huge potential of energy savings to about
15,000 MW in India. Govt. of India has constituted Bureau of Energy Efficiency
(BEE) as a statutory body working under the Ministry of Power and enacted
the Energy Conservation Act 2001. EC Act 2001 facilitates an enabling
regulatory framework to encourage, implement and adoption of new energy
efficient technologies. BEE already announced several programmes to promote
energy efficiency in industries, utilities, appliances etc.
To keep up the efforts of the BEE, Zenith also participates in the energy
efficiency improvement drive and offers consultancy services for Energy
Efficiency and Conservation projects in various sectors such as Cement,
Steel, Paper, Chemical, Power, etc. Zenith has highly experienced Energy
Auditors to undertake energy audits and energy management in various industries.
Advisory services being offered by Zenith include conducting energy audits,
identifying potential areas for energy conservation and efficiency improvements,
cost-benefit analysis, identifying potential areas for process related
improvements that result in improved efficiency etc.
Zenith also develops potential energy efficiency improvement projects
under the Clean Development Mechanism of Kyoto Protocol, to benefit the
implementing industries from the sale of carbon credits.
