Amreli Power Project (P) Ltd is promoted by Zenith Energy is setting up a 10 MW Biomass based power generation project in Amreli district of Gujarat state, India. The main source of raw material are cotton stalk, ground nut shell and prosopis juliflora.
The major items of plant and machinery consist of a travelling grate boiler with economizer, air preheater with electro static precipitator with boiler auxiliaries, a steam turbine with synchronous generator, power evacuation system and fuel handling system. The capacity of the turbo generator is 10 MW. It is anticipated that the plant can operate at a plant load factor of 80%. And average annual power export to the grid system is estimated at 63.072 GWh.
The biomass project has several unique features such as employing air cooled condenser to conserve water resources, solar hot water system for pre-heating of water in the DM plant, installation of VFD's at important installations etc.
The project also desires to employ unique biomass procurement procedure so that several people in the local area are employed for procurement of biomass tot he plant.
The plant is expected to be commissioned in October 2010. The project is expected to generate around 50,000 emission reductions annually. The project is planned to be registered as a gold standard CDM project.
