A Verified Emission Reduction (VER) Project is a project that has its GHG emission reductions certified not under the Kyoto Protocol (CDM/JI), but in a voluntary certification process. Though VERs are not recognized by Kyoto and EU emissions trading schemes, they can be traded on the voluntary market subject to fulfilling the quality standards of buyers.
